"There is no better way to put it... Kriko made me a better teacher. While my passion for class discussion was always present in my pedagogy, It was my time collaborating with Kriko that gave me the tools to make it a reality. He models highly rigorous questioning and is persistent when pushing students to engage in a text. Critical discourse is more necessary than ever before and we need facilitators that can empower our young people to think deeply about text and the world around them. He models highly rigorous questioning and is persistent when pushing students to engage in a text.
Kriko is that facilitator. "
-- Taylor Delhagen, Assistant Professor of Practice (APP) and History Education at The Relay Graduate School of Education.
“I have observed Mr. Michaels teach in over a dozen classrooms across a range of socioeconomic levels. Every experience has been a unique treat with the alchemy of the collective students guiding the adventure. Teachers observing the lessons have been moved to tears and epiphanies often within minutes of each other as Kriko unfolds the wisdom and wonder mined from the students’ brains once stimulated by rich literature.”
-- Joy Giovanini, Highly Capable Coordinator at Peninsula School District

KIM LANESE has been a forward thinking and influential educator for over 20 years. Her efficacy has been recognized in many capacities. Her broad skill set has been routinely lauded as she has served as an assistant principal, district-level gifted coordinator, reading specialist, site-based gifted specialist and, of course, classroom teacher. Her experiences have afforded her the opportunity to work in a range of socioeconomic settings. She has presented at state gifted conferences and in the media, developed and hosted informational series for parents, and built innovative educational programs for high achievement. In all capacities, the thing Kim enjoys most is growing and learning together with students and teachers by envisioning the potential all people have for excellence.
Kim is an EdD. candidate in Organizational Leadership with an emphasis in Organizational Development.
"I met Kim 10 years ago when she was the first to identify that my then 6 year-old daughter would benefit from a more rigorous curriculum. Since then I've watched Kim engage, develop, and continue to learn. She has continually challenged herself professionally and succeeded at every stop. She continued to push herself personally, notably spending the past few years earning her EdD. I watched the district’s Renaissance Highly Gifted and Musical Academy grow and thrive under her leadership. I'd be hard pressed to find a more talented and dedicated educator."
-- Walter Cook, COO D3 Intelligence, LLC
“Kim was our daughter’s teacher in the 1st and 3rd grades. However, she completely surpassed the role of a teacher inside the classroom. As educators ourselves, we've appreciated her ability to connect with students and find excellence in each child. Kim means so much to our family, over the years, she's become our family's education counselor and a friend we feel comfortable reaching out to at any time for advice. Today, our daughter is a sophomore in college, and Kim continues to be her most reliable mentor."
